Bruce lived a life defined by courage, service, friendship and an enduring commitment to others.

During a distinguished military career, he served with both the Royal Army Medical Corps and the Royal Logistic Corps, rising through the ranks to become a Major. He travelled extensively throughout the world and saw active service in several theatres of conflict. His courage and devotion to duty were recognised with the award of the Queen’s Commendation for Bravery, an honour that reflected the character of a truly exceptional soldier.

Bruce was also a gifted and enthusiastic sportsman. Cricket and basketball were particular passions, and he proudly represented the RAMC in both. He was also an accomplished footballer. Whether serving alongside his military colleagues or competing on the sports field, Bruce brought determination, loyalty and a strong sense of camaraderie to everything he did.

Away from his military achievements, Bruce will be remembered most for the person he was: a beloved husband, son, brother, father and friend. He is survived by his wife, Lou; his mother, Anne; his brother, Angus; and his children, Callum and Alice. Our thoughts remain with them and with everyone whose life was touched by Bruce.

To those fortunate enough to know him, Bruce was far more than his rank, medals or achievements. He was a loyal friend, a trusted colleague and a much-loved member of the wider military family. The friendships he formed endured across the years, across continents and through all that life placed before him.

Bruce leaves behind many treasured memories: of service and adventure, of sporting triumphs, of laughter, friendship and comradeship. His loss will be deeply felt, but his courage, humour and generous spirit will continue to live on in those who knew and loved him.

He served his country with distinction, faced adversity with courage and earned the affection and respect of many.

Rest in peace, Bruce. You served with honour, you lived with courage, and you will never be forgotten.
